    The European Parliament on Thursday voted in favour of temporarily allowing companies such as WhatsApp, Microsoft and Google to continue to scan private chats for signs of child sexual abuse material.

    Note “voted in favour” here means “voted with a majority against, but the commission forced some bullshit that would have them need an absolute majority and it was the day before holidays started”.

      What is disgusting, is how they did it and that EVERY GROUP VOTED FOR IT! ALL THE BIG PARTYS OF THE BIG NATIONS! Im so glad VOLT didnt vote for it

    What really happened is that it passed with a bunch of poison pills, so as it passed it can’t apply to any private communication for example.

    It won’t pass the next round like this (if it does, that’s actually happy in my books), so it’s likely going into conciliation, which is less of a hit article I think.
