I nominate a friend of mine, Perry O’Brian, of Camden Maine, to replace Graham (article he wrote a ways back)
Perry is:
U.S. Army veteran who served in Afghanistan
Helped lobby both Republicans and Democrats to support the first impeachment of Trump.
Has been the organizing director of Common Defense, the Senior Campaign’s director , and many other hats at Common Defense, a anti-war progressive veterans organization which has helped get many progressives elected across the country
And he lives in Camden Maine. Or at least he did a year or so ago.
Fuck Camden! The downtown is a snarled mess of pedestrians and state highway traffic.
Lovely place if you don’t have to pass through, though.
Veteran? Hard pass.
Congress is full of ex-military and vets, and always has been.
What an absolutely bizarre take.
There in lies the problem.
Point us to the country that has no active or ex-miltary in its legislature. I’d love to see this Nirvana to which you refer.
Imagine categorically rejecting someone because of a job they had.
A lot of active political people here are hopeless. They don’t know a thing about a person except one vague item and that’s already disqualifying.
No wonder people here are always upset. No one will ever be good enough.
Wild take when most veterans end up that way because they didnt have any other real options at the time.
Agreed
