Since classicly left/right (“poor vs wealthy”) and liberal/illiberal (“personal freedom vs external control”) are separate political axes my thoughts are “made by an angry person without much underpinning analysis”.

AFAIK left is pretty relative. Being liberal is being considered as “lefty” under non-democratic-at-all regimes. Then lets suppose you talk from nowadays USA: Despite the whole spectrum being so tilted right ward, the notion of freedom is that anchored in the mentalities that “authoritarian dictateurship” is inconceivable and get refered to as “liberal but corrupt”. That fun gotcha makes some pretty centrist party be refered to as “lefty” and that’s limiting every one’s imagination.

Since the title asks for thoughts, here’s one: That’s some needlessly divisive, black and white thinking bullshit which actively makes the world a worse place to be living in

I have no idea what this means

Americans always use common political terms very incorrectly. Left isn’t actually left and “liberal” is just a slur used by everyone over the political spectrum. Would have to guess.

For the rest of the world, the image makes nonsense though.

Sure, I guess. But that’s kind of the point, isn’t it? Well-being for everyone, so that we don’t have to fucking worry eventually?

Many idealists enjoy the passive role of being a noble martyr(less work), but leftists make plenty of terrible decisions, not the least being spending so much time and effort trying to prove they’re differenti from people with the exact same ideology and principles as themselves.

Liberals and leftists both make memes, and the meme makers are useless people.

Liberals and leftists both go to protests, call up their senators, and enact change in their communities, and the action-takers are useful people.

I think that the term ‘liberal’ (repectively ‘liberalism’) is both very vague and widely misused. Also that ‘left’ and ‘liberal’ are not mutally exclusive at all.

Both Trumpers and tankies use it as a slur. Which says a lot more about them than it does about liberals.

I find that these terms have become useless. Anytime you have to start a debate by defining which definitions you want to use, it probably means it’s time to move on.
