Polls show JD Vance is far ahead of Marco Rubio in a hypothetical race for the 2028 Republican presidential nomination

Donald Trump is reportedly giving increasingly high marks to Vice President JD Vance, strengthening Vance’s chances of securing the Republican Party’s presidential nomination in 2028.

Vance has been in the spotlight throughout the year, promoting a new memoir about his faith, appearing frequently on TV and negotiating an end to the Iran war — all of which has reportedly caught Trump’s eye.

The president, who is said to have openly quizzed friends and associates about whether Vance or Secretary of State Marco Rubio should succeed him in office, has shifted his tone, insiders told Axios.

Not sure who is worse. Rubio is in favor of lot of the neo-con craziness.

But “JD” “Vance” is aligned with freaks like Thiel and Curtis Yarvin and the authors of The Unhumans and the Sovereign Individual.

No thanks to all of that shit.

Ted Cruz is probably happy that Rubio is taking the mantle of unlikable twat on the national stage.

Oh good. He doesn’t stand a chance against… Anybody, really.

He might be the least likable person in their lot. Not even maga likes Vance.

For all its many, many faults, MAGA/Trump, or, let’s say MAGAT, for short, was an organic movement. Trump was the right person at the right time for a populist movement to coalesce around. You cannot impose a new leader on that movement now. It doesn’t work that way. I don’t see JD Vance having anywhere near the same populist support among the MAGATs as Trump. Populist support would have to coalesce around a new leader, organically. In the absence of a new consensus leader, the MAGAT movement will fracture.

Trump is the party and the base is looking for someone with charisma, not another suit. If the field is so flat that Vance or Rubio could become party nominee, then the party is dead. Trump chose Vance because he didn’t want someone who would outshine him. Vance will only be President if Trump croaks.

Exactly. Wouldn’t surprise me if the magats will be clamouring for someone from the “royal family” to take over, instead of one of the soulless minions.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Trump Jr runs, on a platform of “I’ll do whatever my dad tells me”…

I want to say “LOL do it.” because it’s so funny and clearly a losing proposition, but that’s how we got Trump.

Gonna be kinda hard for him to support revoking birthright citizenship and sterilizing foreign visitors to America. Or maybe it won’t be. He sure does hate Cubans.
