I mean I’m still saying that I’d rather know who the fucking making the apps that are going on my phone. I don’t want some random jack hole that don’t know what the fuck they’re doing or that’s allowing spyware into their app or allowing some Bitcoin minor or bond creator on my phone. I’m okay with this move. Google is not saying that you can’t create apps and you can’t even not create apps off of the Play store. What they’re saying is that you have to be verified to have the apps allowed to be installed on your system. Most people can barely run their phones let alone keep them secure. So while it’s an unpopular opinion I personally think it’s a good move.

This is not the way. Plenty of apps on Google Play Store, where developer ID is already done, are straight up malware. Google does not manually review all the code on the app store and allows closed-source apps. The way to prevent these harms is to use free open source (therefore auditable in the open) apps that can be compiled by a trusted 3rd party like F-Droid if not yourself. This trick that Google is pulling prevents this because the apps have to be compiled and signed by the developers themselves (after being forced to ID themselves). There are plenty of reasons devs might want to not doxx themselves, and it shouldn’t matter when the code is open source and can be audited.

So the people who “can barely run their phones” are also the ones consciously seeking out adb files and acknowledging the warning that pops up when they proceed to install them? Because it seems like every single time I heard of a bunch of rubes being pwnt, they’d all installed some fake tool or Jerry Smith tier bubble popping game that unsurprisingly ended up being malware… distributed by the fucking Play Store. When Google’s “Play Protect” doesn’t seem to actually matter, why would anyone want to allow them to then monopolize app distribution under the false flag of “security?”

Why the fuck would I want to switch to iPhone even with whatever options Google’s putting in iPhone is still way way way way more restrictive and Google still is the better choice you idiot.

Do you kiss your mother with that mouth? It’s clear you are on the wrong side, supporting google’s direction. Just buy an iphone because that’s where google is going now and you are supporting that lol
