Yeah, I’m afraid you’re right. I think I’ll try my part to get as many people out these midterms, futile as it may seem and then it’ll be time to let the extremism chambers do their thing and retire. There’s no way this takes off as a mainstream platform if they are not willing to curb the extremism which effectively promotes violence. So participating and attempting to help grow this is a waste of time, and we already don’t have the life expectancy of our parents.

I don’t think the Threadiverse will ever grow much beyond its current size - maybe 2-3x what we have now but not like 100x as we had all previously hoped for. The Threadiverse merely enshittified differently, with toxicity and pro-Russian & Chinese propaganda rather than pro-corporate BS, yet still ultimately driving people away.
I don’t currently have anything in mind for a better solution. It seems that people are flocking to Bluesky so perhaps we’ll have to wait until it enshittifies as well. In the meantime we had best improve the tools bc no matter how shitty other places are, if the Threadiverse is shittier then people still won’t come even then.
