Surely it’s for Valve’s upcoming VR headset which will run on ARM.
As the article discusses, it doesn’t feature that extension and that extension will only be featured (in a slim down way) in a new chipset at the end of the year.
Its certainly a weird thing to work on - they dont even have a way to test it (because theres no hardware).
