No, the afd just knows how to play the social media game. All the other parties are pretty much non existent compared to the shares, likes and comments the afd gets. This makes it simple for them to invent any problems from immigrants, renewable energy, gad prices, Ukraine war and present themselves as solution. Doesn’t matter that their solutions are stupid, they just repeat it often enough until their followers believe it.
The Linke is very present on social media too. I remember watching Deutsche Welle English and they compared the number of accounts and number of followers for each party in the German parliament and The Linke was not that far behind AfD. The problem is that the platforms they are on are owned by uberwealthy, right-wing billionaires.
We need a #WealthTax and for more people on the fediverse where companies don’t control the algorithms and surface right-wing stuff all the time.
I think private people or companies should not be allowed own big media, regardless of Internet, tv, print or other media, because it’s easily exploited by people with money for their own goals.
