Vance is posing as a chivalrous defender of his wife. What he’s hiding are the craven compromises he’s made with the racist and white nationalist elements within the MAGA coalition.

    El-Sayed’s comment was a response to that. His claim is that if Vance’s Papaw would have seen a Muslim candidate in the bigoted terms that Vance articulated—as inherently posing a threat to “working people”—then he also might have seen Usha Vance in a similar way.

    As a immigrant that grew up in the same Midwest environment, there’s no might.

      Man I’m really digging this El-Sayed guy. He’s not pulling any punches while keeping them all well above-the-belt, and he’s not afraid to (figuratively) hold a mirror up to the camera.

      Like you know that scene in The Butterfly Effect where Ashton Kutcher’s character goes back to when he was a kid and just confidently spouts straight knowledge to a bully about how shitty the bully’s life is going to be?

      He reminds me of that.
