  • I remember learning about Malcolm X years after school.

    We are peaceful people, we are loving people. We love everybody who loves us. But we don’t love anybody who doesn’t love us. We’re nonviolent with people who are nonviolent with us. But we are not nonviolent with anyone who is violent with us.

    Schools really failed me here. Never really helping understand why the need for protest. It was about buses and drinking fountains, not systematic poverty, gerry mandering, or violence.

    I decided to read his wiki since I still don’t know enough. I found this:

    “the same white supremacy that lynches Black people in America bombs villages in the Congo and bulldozes homes in Palestine.”

    Malcolm X, 1964.

    The terms of his assassination in 1965 are unclear, going all the way to 2023 with his family in 2023 suing CIA, FBI, and NYPD for concealing details. Feels like things haven’t really changed.
