No, “in mass” means you’re physically located in Massachusetts. “En masse” means massive quantity, that’s the point of their post, that’s the expression, its loaner words from French; you’ve never heard anyone say “in mass” in this context in your life, you have been hearing “en masse” incorrectly because your education system failed you.

They also took the right side in the Lego drama. Also my kid likes Jack Conte’s band with his wife, oh and there’s the whole “let’s creators make money without being stuck to overly broad TOS online” so I think Jack is putting up dubs left and right
Very telling that he thinks he is.

The whole reason they bought it in the first place was so it would either make them money, or die.
They’re not going to set it free to do well again, they’d lose money that was never theirs to begin with!

You had no credible evidence until this point except “he was a chud in the past and I have bad vibes”
Newsflash, you’re not an oracle. Now that there’s credible accusations, he’s out. As it should be. You don’t get to be a wrecker on vibes, that’s how we end up with the Chuck Schumers and Susan Collins’ of the world.
The real question is now who is going to step up in his place with the same platform? Because the policies are clearly what we all wanted and needed, which is why he attracted attention nationwide.

This is so much bigger than the secondary resale market, which is a small added bonus for them
The move from physical media; the price of computer components rising beyond reasonable levels; the locking down of hardware; the locking down of software distribution methods; the inevitability of de-anonymizing all Internet users…
The capitalist class has had enough of your criticism. We discovered their little criminal playground that preyed on children, we discovered how they hide their wealth without contributing back to society, we even discovered how government programs meant to “keep us safe” are used to exploit everyone on earth.
You think Sony ending physical discs is about video games? Brother it’s about the mind prison they’re designing to keep you in line while they fuck preteens on yachts until this whole planet burns to the ground

I can agree fully with that!
I feel like the Aidy-Bryant-SNL-characters of the United States are waking up to the fact that this is more than just a “who does business better” situation anymore.
If there was a second civil war and a reconstruction, it would not be lead by Gavin fucking Newsome

Too many people are coming up with ways to repair or enhance items that don’t enrich the OEM.
These laws are the DMCA of the physical world. This is stage 4 malignant capitalism, where they claim their true dominion over us all.
Play by the rules: You exist, they make money off your existence, nothing changes.

No, many many ones are paying literally fractions of a penny for that PowerPoint reading, and it’s damn well worth it.
Unless you prefer a Bourgeois class that strangles the working man with taxes that go to oil subsidies and wars over said oil.
I’ll take smart and sane people over whatever the fuck we’ve been doing in America for the last 40 years

There are plenty of exploitative “schools” out there which make big promises, cost big money, and then do shit like this.
The rub is that they cost less than real university, so that is sometimes people’s only option.
When you live in a society that actively discourages education because they don’t want citizens to realize how bad they’re getting robbed by capitalism, you don’t make it cheap or free to go to school. They want to ensure the only smart ones are already so ingrained into the system (by way of being able to afford the education) that they’d never betray it, or risk upending their comfortable lifestyle.
You know, like Lords and Ladies
- 4am@lemmy.ziptoGames@lemmy.world•Hideo Kojima ‘really sad’ about PlayStation killing discs, ‘frightened’ for future of ownershipEnglish151·5 days ago
Most discs still contain the full game, most physical releases contain discs of the full game
Some physical releases are just an empty case with a code. Some Nintendo Switch cartridges are just license dongles for the game download.
You’ve never owned a game. You’ve only ever licensed a game. This is true for all software. Removing the physical medium of distribution just allows the copyright cartel the control it has always wanted over something you paid for. But they have been hoodwinking consumers over what “purchase” and “buy” and “own” mean. Technically speaking, any game company could send you a C&D and tell you to stop playing their game forever, your license is revoked, and if you ever played it again they could sue for damages. Doubtful they would, as I doubt it would be worth their time; but this does mean they have the right to just decide their work is no longer available and vanish all digital copies; and they could also make all physical discs stop working through system software updates.

Leaving it unplugged means capacitors drain. Not sure what issues that would solve that wouldn’t be related to hardware failure.
Still, only a single hardware failure reported so far and some news outlets ran with “MAJOR failure in Steam Machine, GabeN in shambles, Valve BTFO, Sony was right all along, apologize to Nintendo right now”

Models don’t “care” about “truths”, they are about the average likelyhood that the next word is correct based on the previous x words based on the data they were trained on, which was mostly internet posting.
Their output can also be manipulated by adding “system prompts” so that the user’s question isn’t the only thing being input.
ChatGPT doesn’t think, it doesn’t “reason”, it doesn’t know what is true, it doesn’t “feel” “integrity”. It regurgitates Wikipedia articles against the biases of 4chan and Reddit posts and tries to sell that diarrhea as bowls of soup.
Personally I’m to the point where I understand gulags now. Like, why would they need that? Why would they do something that seems so intentionally cruel and forceful and then read shit like this and I go “oh, oh yeah. I get it now. Yeah some people belong there.”

The problem is that managers think AI is this oracle intelligence we’ve created that we can collaborate with, that it should be treated like a supernatural partner, and that it has greater abilities than we humans do. They actually believe this.
WHY ELSE would we GIVE UP all our computing power in order to have it? Surely it must be real because EVERYONE IS DOING IT!
No dumbass, your friends jumped off a bridge and you said “oh, must be fine”.
You would be extremely foolish to continue to underestimate those who are in power. “They’re all just dumb and weak! They couldn’t find him!”
Read up on Parallel Construction like that other chatter suggested.
